One of the Gold Coast’s most beautiful stretches of sand will be transformed into Australia’s most stunning outdoor art gallery when SWELL Sculpture Festival returns to Currumbin Beach from 13 to 22 September.

Now in its 17th year, the free, family-friendly event is Queensland’s largest outdoor sculpture exhibition and will feature more than 55 unique works of art along the one-kilometre foreshore between the iconic Currumbin and Elephant rocks, both of which will be adorned with sculpture.

The 10-day showcase of installations, digital works and sculpture will be complemented by an exciting program of entertainment and activities including the playful, children-focused SWELL Kids Elements area, a space dedicated to small-scale sculptures – the SWELL Smalls Gallery – and a host of adult and child master classes.

Boasting a fun, surrealistic atmosphere of artistic expression, the annual event has become a highlight of the Gold Coast’s cultural calendar.

Extending the footprint of the event by connecting the northern and southern ends of the Gold Coast, renowned local artist Ivan Lovatt will also present a new large-scale sculpture in an up-close environment at the Helensvale Library and Cultural Precinct for Northerly SWELL.

Located at one of Australia’s most famous and loved coastlines, SWELL has grown into an internationally acclaimed cultural attraction that continues to captivate art lovers, beachgoers, families and visitors alike.
